What do you do at Brooklife?

I work in the areas of Children's Ministry and Family Ministry. I am overseeing the Preschool portion of Kidlife, directing Camp Venture, writing curriculum for parenting classes and assisting in the Mom-to-Mom mentoring program.

What is your favorite thing about Brooklife?

I have been able to witness God working in this church since its start. I know God has big plans for this church and it is so exciting to be a part of that. I also appreciate the size of this church. Our members are not just numbers. We are a church family. This is my church home.

Family?

I have been married to my best friend and life partner Todd since 1999. Together we have been blessed with our daughter Trinity and our son Jonah.

What do you do for fun?

I really enjoy just being with my family. From family vacations to just hanging out on a Sunday afternoon, these are my favorite times.

Any real credentials?

I received my Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from Carroll College in 1996. I also received my Master of Arts in Teaching from Aurora University in 2001. Since then, I have taken many continuing education courses. I have also begun work on my Masters in Biblical Studies through Trinity College of the Bible and Seminary. I have also been blessed with fifteen fun-filled years as a seventh grade social studies teacher in the Burlington School District. I have been involved in Children's Ministry as a teacher and coordinator for the past seven years.

What do you do at Brooklife?

I am an intern in spiritual formation working with the adult ministries. This consists of working with house groups, operations, and marriage mentoring. With house groups, I help facilitate connecting people to groups where they can further create community and “do life together” in a context where spiritual formation can be further developed. I help with strategy of development of adult ministry groups, classes, and operations. Along with marriage mentoring, I will also be involved in facilitating Divorce Care groups.

What is your favorite thing about Brooklife?

First of all Brooklife is a church that feels like home to me. Brooklife is a church that truly seeks to live out its mission and its values in every area. They are seeking ways to reach people in innovative ways, looking for new opportunities to make an eternal impact in the lives of others. What I like most about Brooklife is the excitement of what lies ahead, a continual sense that there is always more to come.

Family?

I married my beautiful wife Lisa in 2010. I have two teenage children from my previous marriage, Cameron and Katelyn. I have five brothers, most of who are in Indiana where I was born and raised.

What do you do for fun?

I enjoy spending time with my wife Lisa, taking walks, jogging outdoors, and exploring new trails. I enjoy fishing, especially fly fishing for which I make my own flies. I also enjoy reading and learning whether in the context of community or in my home.

Any real Credentials?

I received my associate degree in Liberal Arts with a concentration in Business Administration from Indiana Wesleyan University. I am currently completing my BA degree in Leadership and Ministry from Ohio Christian University.

  Nathan Schindler, Connections Intern

nschindler@brooklife.org

What do you do at Brooklife?

I lead a house group with my wife, Pam. Our House Group gets involved in a number of things including Midnight Magic. Additionally, I very much enjoy being part of the connections team which I do with my son, Garrett.

What is your favorite thing about Brooklife?

My favorite thing about Brooklife is how we can just be real here. I like that most of the “pomp and circumstance” that has become commonplace in religion today is not present at Brooklife. Brooklife’s focus is on the Word of God in the Bible and how to apply it to our lives. It is not about traditions, extra rules, or what other people think we should believe.

My second favorite thing about Brooklife is that it is not a church that is above working with other churches or above addressing community issues. We realize that we are only a small part of God’s Church and as such feel that we should come along other churches to spread the Gospel and address the needs of the community.

Family?

Married in September of 2000 to Pam Schindler. We have one boy and three girls - Garrett, Kayla, Lauren, and Brooke.

What do you do for fun?

We like to hang out as a family for fun. One thing we very much like to do is go on vacations, which range from camping, to going to watch Packer Training Camp, to going to Disney World.

When I get a chance I really like to go snorkeling/scuba diving, but with our young family those opportunities don’t come along very often right now.

What do you do for a living?

I work for IKON which is a Ricoh Company. I’m in major account sales. Ricoh sells copiers, printers, digital presses and the various software that goes along with them. I’ve been there since June of 2008.
