Our Story

Over 30 years ago, people started praying for a church to begin in Mukwonago that would reach out to people who are far from God.

Over the years, a grassroots movement began amongst families from Elmbrook Church (Brookfield, WI). Some of them began to gather in homes to pray that God would start a new church in Mukwonago.

As the council of Elders at Elmbrook Church listened to this desire, looked at the area, and listened to God, they decided to go forward with the idea. Brooklife would become the 12th daughter or granddaughter church of Elmbrook. (Although at that time, Brooklife did not have an official name and was affectionately called “Mukbrook”)

In 2007, the elders asked Jason and Heather Webb to lead the new church plant initiative.

On April 29, 2007, people came together for the first time at Elmbrook Church to dream of what God could do through a new church in nearby Mukwonago. 167 people showed up!

Over the next 9 months, a launch team met together at Mukwonago High School on Sunday nights to form the foundation for this new church. They started to reach out into the community through service projects and formed tight community through house groups.

During those 9 months, Matt Erickson (Associate Pastor) and Julie Scheibe (KidLife Pastor) joined Jason (Lead Pastor) and Heather (Pastor of Community Life) on the pastoral staff.

On January 6, 2008, Brooklife’s doors officially opened to the public at Clarendon Avenue Elementary School. God blew us away that first Sunday as hundreds of people poured through the doors to see what was happening during the worship service.

On March 16, 2008, Brooklife added a second worship service to allow it to grow to a church of around 550 on a normal weekend.

From day one, God performed many miracles. The staff continued to grow, many people returned to faith or found faith for the first time, house groups multiplied, and the kids and students ministries grew rapidly.

In Spring 2009, Brooklife launched imagine, a faith journey to raise the needed finances to buy land and build a multi-purpose facility for the community and the church. This facility is scheduled to open in September 2011.

We are excited about what God has done, but even more excited about what he will do.

Come join us in the ongoing story of Brooklife Church!
